Selection of Theme for your Virtual Art Gallery Tour Assignment

Selection of Theme for your Virtual Art Gallery Tour - Assignment Example Young girls may love artworks about pretty flowers and butterflies while their male counterparts may be interested in trees, mountains and horses. Adults may be interested in vast seas, the fields or the universe and other complexities of nature. Nature actually has a wide scope so it is easy to collect materials for any audience. However, for this tour, I choose to have pre-teenagers for my audience ranging from the age of nine to twelve. At this age, the children are already old enough to think critically and share their ideas with their peers and other people. This would be an interesting interaction as I could be able to have another angle of perception through the eyes of my audience. In addition, they are still young enough to be concerned about the reactions of their friends if they speak out their thoughts. This will lead to a more interesting and open sharing of ideas. Since the theme is about nature, one could easily identify with what is being

Competitor Analysis- Mcdonald's Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Competitor Analysis- Mcdonald's - Research Paper Example It operates correspondingly through a chain of restaurants, company operated and franchised across the world. Michael Porter presented a framework for analyzing competitor. The key aspects that Porter discussed are Competitors objective, Competitors assumptions, Competitors strategy and his Capabilities. In simple terms one should analyze his competitor’s strengths and weaknesses to draft his own strategy. Although both the fast food giants belong to the same family, but have specialization in different nature of products served. McDonald’s are famous for their Hamburgers and other’s in the Burger family, while KFC specializes in fried chicken. Both the corporations have the same geographical reach in the world and strong brand recognition. To its added advantage McDonald’s is listed in the NYSE giving it room for more growth through access to an enormous fund pool (McDonald’s Official Website, 2011; Porter, 2004). Toady due to its rapid expansion M cDonald’s have its presence in 119 countries with an employee base above 400,000 worldwide. KFC on the other hand has similar presence but with an employee base little above 25,000. It may be small in size but has been the most successful fried chicken chain in the world. Due to his excellence in chicken products it has not faced any social issues till date. Chicken is the most consumed protein in the world with none social or religious restrictions placed upon it. KFC has faced certain protests from animal rights groups. McDonald’s has also seen the same from these organisations. On the contrary McDonald’s apart from animal rights organisation have witnessed many social and religious obstacles throughout the world. McDonald’s specializes in Hamburgers, but the fact that it is completely banned in Islam, Muslims across the world refuse to eat it. Therefore the company has limited its product range in the Muslim world. Further McDonald’s has faced i ssues with Hindus especially in India who refuse to eat Meat on religious grounds. This again has forced McDonald’s to cut back its product range. None of these issues have been faced by KFC, and hence it has a steady and strong growth trend across the world (KFC Official Website, 2011). KFC is a private corporation and is not listed as McDonald’s; its financial results are unavailable. Still its magnificent power can be witnessed as it is present in almost similar capacity and has maintained its strength in the Fast Food sector all over the world. Based on McDonald’s capacity to capture such revenues and the pace of its expansion, due to exposure to a massive fund pool being listed at the NYSE, it can be said that McDonald’s have overpowered many Fast Food networks on the planet. It can be advocated that KFC’s policy of slow expansion or its ability to have its corporate presence in many countries without being listed, is in itself a remarkable ac hievement. There is a huge possibility that such policy might change and in a situation of a price war between the giants, KFC has definitely the ability to challenge McDonald’s on all fronts. McDonald’s should show resilience in drafting strategies for corporate expansion; as such moves require a lot of investments. In case of any turbulence in the economic environment or KFC’s idea to get listed materializes, it would ring alarms towards McDonald’s to have in its grip a lot of liquidity so should it be in a price war situation with KFC. As McDonald’

(http://www.thinkinglondon.html, 2009) 6. Conclusion As we have known, the Olympics take more effects to London, to UK. However, from another side, whether we think about the slides below: The movement of middle class families into urban areas causing property values to rise and having the secondary effect of driving out poorer families The Docklands regeneration was criticized for reinforcing the social divide between rich and poor With 30% post-games housing being affordable to low income families, there will be an imbalance of rich and poor in the society Will the area revert to poverty or gentrify? Maybe above all the slides told that everything has two sides, good and bad. At present, from this research project, it proved that most of the direction of Government doing were advantage, those will bring more effects to people, although bring some Negative aspects. They are unprecedented for a development of this nature.

William Wordsworth’s The Daffodils compared to Miracle on St Davids Da

William Wordsworth’s The Daffodils compared to Gillian Clarke’s Miracle on St David's Day In this essay I will attempt to compare two very contrasting poems, William Wordsworth’s `The Daffodils' which was written in pre 1900s and Gillian Clarke’s ‘Miracle on St David's Day’, written in the 20th century. Strangely enough Gillian Clarke’s ‘Miracle on St David's day’ was actually inspired by ‘The Daffodils’. In 1804 William Wordsworth wrote ‘a masterpiece’, two years after his experience with the daffodils, while the poem â€Å"Miracle on St. David’s Day† was written by Gillian Clarke around 1980, one hundred and seventy-six years later. Wordsworth was born on 7 April 1770 in Cockermouth, Cumberland, and raised around the mountains of Cumberland around the River Derwent. It was here that he would have been in ‘pure communication’ with nature and this was probably the inspiration for most of his poems. Gillian Clarke was born in Wales in 1937. Her parents spoke only Welsh but she learned to speak English as well as Welsh and currently lives in Tallgarreg, Wales, where she breeds sheep with her architect husband, daughter and two sons. The poems have many differences and similarities. I plan to write about some of them in this essay. The poems are set in two different places. ‘The Daffodils’ was written when Wordsworth was out walking on his own, in Gowbarrow Park, by the River Ullswater – which was obviously outside. ‘Miracle on St. David’s Day was written in a mental institution – an indoor setting. This has an effect on the way each poem is written. Both are written about the human mind, memory and imagination, and I think that writing about these subjects would have been quite hard to do. Both poems ca... ...hem his spirit is immediately lifted, and he feels ‘gay’. This conveys that the sight of the daffodils was magnificent, and this is why I adore this poem so much, I almost feel jealous of Wordsworth for two reasons – one for his being there to witness the daffodils and also because he has an extremely talented writing ability always at his fingertips. Clarke’s poem is not as good as Wordsworth’s, although she does describe the event very well, and the poem is superbly written, but in my opinion, Wordsworth has written a better poem, one which is renowned the world over. I say that I prefer Wordsworth’s poem as he writes about a more uplifting theme, and this gives Wordsworth the edge. Clarke’s poem is not as uplifting as Wordsworth’s. I think that he has used the perfect words to describe his perfect feelings, and that is how I describe his perfect poem.

History Art and Culture Chicago Essay

Between the years 1920 and 2001, there are several clear artistic movements (schools) in American history. There are numerous good examples of these at the several art museums scattered throughout the greater Chicago area. This paper is going to discus an artistic school (movement) that is known as the Ashcan school. The paper will then give a brief overview of two works. This school of thought is usually associated with artistic group that is known as the Eight. Whose members are Henni Robert (1865 to 1929), Glacken William (1870 to1938), Shinn Everett (1876 to 1953), Sloan French John (1871 to 1951), Lawson Emest (1873 to 1939), Prendergast Maurice (1859 to 1924), and Luks George. The Ashcan school of thought, also known as the Ash Can School of thought, refers to a realistic artistic movement that rose into prominence in America during the early 20th centaury, best known for artistic work showing scenes of daily life in the poorer neighbourhood of New York. This school of thought was composed of a group of artist, many of whom have had a stint as newspaper illustrators in Philadelphia, who show cased their artistic works once at the Macbeth Gallery in New York. The eight are commonly referred as a group, despite the diversity of their work in terms of the subject and style. Five of these artists are the only ones who painted the urban scenes that characterized the Ashcan school. The main unity of these schools if thought was based on the desire of portraying some truths concerning the dirty city. Henri Robert strived to make art to be akin to journalism. Robert wanted paint to be as real as mud, as the snow and clods of horse shit that freezes on a Broadway during winter season. The artist of this school of thought went against genteel the United States impression that was a reflection of the vanguard of the United States art of that time. Their artistic work were generally dark in tone, reflected subjects such as drunks, prostitutes, boxing matches and also captured the spontaneous moments of life. This paper is going describe the artistic work of Robert Henri and William Glacken. Chez Mouquin Chez Mouquin is an artistic work that was done by William Glacken in 1905. Chez Mouquin shows a socio sexual complexity. The picture has a dark background. There is also an image of a beautiful lady who is extravagantly dressed. The woman also looks gloomy (sad). The beautiful lady is seated with a beefy prosperous looking man in a tuxedo in a restaurant. In this picture, the beautiful woman together with the man is taking wine . Glacken William painted Chez Mouquin in 1905 inside the Parisian style cafe of the uptown market. This beautiful lady with redhead painting is Jeanne Louise Mouquin who has been depicted to be sitting politely with an owner of the restaurant James Moore of the cafe Francis. Glacken captured Jeanne Mouquin facial expression of boredom while she was possibly waiting for her husband to close the restaurant so that they can go home. James Moore resembles Henri, her husband because of the moustache. There is no doubt her husband (Henri) was busy managing the cafe that is why he didn’t sit for the portrait. William Glacken might have started drawing the portrait using James Moore has a stand in for Henri, planning to finish the painting after with Henri in it. Henri was busy, so he refused to sit down however; Glacken went a head and painted Moore with the wife of Mouquin. William Glacken thought that it was a great idea to have his business partner seated with Jeanne Louise. The lady didn’t like this idea, that his why she sulked. This painting might be a reflection of the marriage scandal that hit the newspaper. James Moore was so well known for squiring young beautiful ladies and used to refer to then as his daughter. This painting can be found at Chicago Art Institute who also has the rights.

The Impacts of Economics Crisis in Indonesia

The economic crisis, which hit Indonesia, began in Thailand in June 1997. It rapidly spread, causing stocks to tumble and many Asian currencies to fall, the worst of all the Indonesian Rupiah. Indonesia†s worsening economic situation is mainly due to the sharp depreciation of Rupiah against the US dollar. Being out of our government†s control, the Rupiah keeps on sliding further and at its lowest point touched a level of Rp. 17,000 against the US dollar. Realizing that the economy will not recover overnight, it takes time and serious effort to bring back the economy on the right track. In order to cover the budget deficit, the Indonesian government asked the assistance from the International Monetary Fund. As for the revival of the economic crisis, Indonesia needs massive aid. The crisis has caused the banking sector to collapse dramatically. The large number of banks in my country might be one of the main problems as there are more than 265 units. The recent economic crisis has put more burdens on the banking sector so the government decided to close down 16 ailing private banks without a full guarantee on the return of their deposit funds. This has forced depositors to draw their savings and moved to foreign and government banks which resulted in a big rush for several private banks. Due to this, The Central Bank has to print new money for injection and bailing out the insolvent banks caused by the rush. By printing money, the government unintentionally prompted the outbreak of hyperinflation. Panicked by this, the Central Bank decided to raise interest rates. As a result, companies that were highly dependent on loans are forced to close down. Many Indonesian factories are facing financial difficulties due to the huge and extensive overseas debts and a tremendous dependence on importing raw material and supplies. We know that most factories have been too dependent on imports and their owners much too attracted to foreign capital without hedging. They are facing problems with loan repayment due to the drastic depreciation of the Rupiah. Even medium and small enterprises are facing the same problem. They have difficulty in running their businesses since they could not afford to pay the high interest rate. Meanwhile, the economy continues to deteriorate with the annual inflation rate once rising more than 100%. A lot of factories are closing down and the number of unemployed people increase. The increasing numbers of companies that went bankrupt and the factories, which are closing down, have intensified the quantity of jobless people and unemployment. To anticipate the long crisis, most companies have to restructure their management systems. It is important in the crisis era for companies to achieve efficiency and stick to market oriented operation. For efficiency, companies cannot avoid but reducing the operation cost and working hours. This resulted in the huge number of lay-off and cutting down number of employees. According to prediction, this crisis has caused at least 20 million people to become jobless, 20% of the school children are at serious risk of dropping out of school as a result of shrinking family incomes, soaring unemployment, and hyperinflation. Along with the severe drought, which threatened to push as many as 50 million people into poverty, increasing unemployment, hunger and poverty has also been created. This serious problem has incited crime, chaos, and social unrest. Poor people can no longer afford to buy staple food and basic essential commodities. Even subsidies could no longer assist with the people becoming more easily tempted and incited to commit crime. Stealing, robbing, looting, destroying, and burning could no longer be avoided. The tragedy was on May 14, 1998, when the mass riots started in Jakarta. The angry mobs started to loot, destroy and burn down shops, supermarkets, cars, housing complexes and even the Chinese minority became the target by being physically assaulted and abused. The reason is because most Chinese dominate the business factor. Direct losses are approximately US$ 909 million. This resulted in a stagnation of the business, transportation and distribution sector since most Chinese have fled the country. This mid-May riot has left a traumatic effect on me. I am deeply grieved that these things should happen to my own country and people. Motivated by this tragedy, I promise that I will contribute with my knowledge to help my country in difficult time like now. My strong commitment is to try to minimize the impact of the economic crisis.
